national Jewish bankers who force people to live in debt, to live in cities,
and to embrace “modern immorality.” The members of the ITP believed
that only by “going back to the land,” rejecting modernity, and abandoning
democracy would society be able to return to its Catholic foundations and
flourish.
Entryism
Entryism is a political tactic by which a small organization joins a
larger organization with which it has some commonality. This is done for
one of two purposes: either to completely take over the organization, or to
recruit new members. Shortly after the founding of the ITP, its members
began assisting at Mass in chapels of the Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX).
The SSPX, like the ITP, promotes attachment to the concept of tradition.
By the late 1990s, the ITP had made serious progress in gaining support
within the SSPX for its radical political agenda. One Society bishop,
Bishop Williamson, several SSPX priests, and many of the faithful have
become deeply committed to the ITP philosophy and worldview.
Bishop Williamson has spent twenty years teaching seminarians, as
well as all the faithful, that “girls are not for ideas,” that “the use of reason
is for men,” and that women should neither obtain a higher education nor
exercise any position of authority over men. The Bishop, as I learned in the
seminary, has also written about the Jews. In the past he has written that
God is punishing Western civilization because the Christian governments of
Europe allow “free circulation of the enemies of civilization.” 7 The Bishop
also teaches that technology is evil and that the teachings of the Unabomber
are Catholic. It should be no surprise that Bishop Williamson has written
for Sharpe and Holland 8 and endorsed their books. 9
Holland and Sharpe Join Forces
Derek Holland, one of the co-founders of the ITP, started a publishing
house in England called St. George’s Education Trust (SGET). The SGET
founded another publishing house in the United States named the Legion of
St. Louis (Legion).
