When looking at the books reprinted by IHS Press, such as those written by Chesterton and Belloc, it appears that IHS Press is more moderate than the Legion. However, it is when reading the forewords to these books that it becomes apparent that this is not the case. IHS Press has enlisted the following authors to write forewords for its books: Peter Chojnowski, an SSPX professor; Kirkpatrick Sale, a Vermont separatist; and Jean Ousset, who worked for the antisemitic Vichy Government and was the secretary to Charles Maurras of Action Français. Action Français was a political organization that promoted many Perennialist ideas and was condemned by Pope Pius XI. Sharpe and Holland started another publishing house that promoted a book called The Rural Solution (2004). The Rural Solution included the writings of several authors, including Bishop Richard N. Williamson, Dr. Peter Chojnowski, and Christopher McCann, an employee of the Angelus Press, run by the SSPX. 16 It appears that whenever Holland and Sharpe wish to cater to a different audience, they found a new publishing house. Neo-Conned and Neo-Conned Again Sharpe and Holland’s greatest success was the Neo-Conned! series. These books were written for circulation among the population at large, not just for Traditional Catholics. The series dealt with the war in Iraq. Following the pattern of their earlier enterprises, Holland and Sharpe opened another publishing house with a new name, Light in the Darkness Press. In addition to changing the name of the publishing house, they also altered their own names. John Sharpe now advertised himself as “J. Forrest Sharpe” and Holland became “Deric O’Huallachain.” 17 Neo-Conned! followed a format similar to that of the other books published by IHS Press. Many of the writings contained in the book addressed the war in Iraq in an acceptable and academic fashion. Some of the authors whose writings were included in Neo-Conned! are Father Juan Iscara of the SSPX, Dr. Peter Chojnowski, Noam Chomsky, Hillarion Cappuci, John Rao (who writes for the Remnant and was condemned by Cardinal Volk of Prague for speaking at an extreme-right meeting in Europe), 18 and Eric Gill. Neo-Conned II follows the same pattern, with authors such as Justin Raimondo, 19 E. Michael Jones, Patrick Buchanan, Kirkpatrick Sale, and Mark and Louise Zwick. 20 Some of the endorsements touted by Sharpe and Holland on their Neo- Conned promotional website are from Dr. David Allen White, public SSPX supporter; Gerry McGeough, former member of the Irish Republican Army; 21 Fr. Lawrence Smith and Fr. Peter Sommerville, both independent priests friendly to the Traditional Catholic cause; Alassandra Mussolini, Neo-Fascist-supporting granddaughter of Mussolini; 22 Bishop Richard N. Williamson; Deidre Manifold; and Ron Paul. 23 Another shocking example of IHS Press’s collaboration with extremists can be seen in an interview found on Neo-Conned’s website. It is an interview with Ibrahim Ebeid. 24 The Neo-Conned editor conducting the interview showed a clear working knowledge of Ibrahim’s activities. As can be seen on Ibrahim’s website, he is the spokesperson for the Baath Party in Iraq, and calls for the murder of U.S. Troops and Iraqis who support the U.S. 25 18.
