Otomotiv sektörü için Amerika pazarında
başarılı olan her şey Rusya pazarında
da başarılı olur diyebilir miyiz?
Ben asla ve her zaman kelimelerini kullanmayı
hiç sevmem. Bunun için çok yaşlıyım.
Ama iki ülke arasında iyi bir uyum var. İtalya
pazarına bakalım, geçenlerde NX modelini
pazara sürdük ve satışlarımızı bir yıl içinde
iki katına çıkarıyoruz. Çünkü İtalya pazarı
için doğru ebatlarda doğru ürünümüz vardı.
İtalyan şehirleri neredeyse 2 bin yaşında ve
daracık sokakları var. Bu yüzden kompakt
otomobillere ihtiyaç duyuluyor. Rusya’da
ise büyük meydanlar ve geniş alanlar var.
Amerika, Orta Doğu ve Rusya pazarında bu
açıdan güzel bir uyum var.
Rus otomobil alıcıları ile Avrupalılar
arasındaki başlıca farklar neler?
Birçok fark var. Öncelikle Rusya’da aracın
kullanım alanı çok önemli. Bu yüzden genellikle
SUV’lere ihtiyacınız oluyor. Çetin
kış şartları nedeniyle Rusya’da lüks otomobil
pazarının 3’te 2’sini SUV’ler oluşturuyor.
Bir diğer nokta ise Rusya’da gelir dağılımının
Avrupa’ya göre çok farklı olması. Batı
Avrupa’da daha düzgün bir gelir dağılımı
söz konusu. Çok fazla orta sınıf, az zengin
ve az fakir var. Rusya’da ise çok sayıda
zengin, az orta sınıf ve çok fazla da düşük
gelirli insan var. Rusya’da zengin kişilerin
potansiyeli çok yüksek. Ayrıca Rusya’da
parası olan kişiler Batı Avrupa’dakilere
göre daha genç. Batı Avrupa’da lüks otomobil
alabilen bir kişinin ortalama yaşı 50.
Rusya’da ise bu yaş 40 oluyor çünkü komünist
rejimde yaşamış olan kişiler bugün
zengin sınıfta yer almıyor. Rusya’da kısa
sürede çok zengin olmuş 30’lu 40’lı yaşlarda
pek çok insan var. Ayrıca Rusya’da
kadın müşterilerimiz de var. Rusya’da
yolların doğası nedeniyle otomobilin konforuna
performansından daha fazla önem
veriliyor. Yine dönüp dolaşıp SUV’ye
geliyoruz. Batı Avrupa’da varlıklı
biriyseniz spor bir
otomobil alırsınız. Ama
Rusya’da spor otomobil

Can we say that everything which fits
well to the US market could fit to Russia
as well in the automotive industry?
I don't say ever and never. I'm too old for
ever and never but there is a very good
match between the two. Look at the Italian
market, we just introduced NX, and we are
going to double our sales in 1 year. Why?
Because we have the right product for the
right size for the Italian market. Italian cities
are almost 2000 years old and thus people
need small compact cars. But there are big
avenues and a lot of spaces in Russia. There
is a good match between the US, Middle
East and Russia markets in this regard.
What are the main differences of
Russian car buyers from the European
ones?
There are many differences. Use of the
cars is very important. So you mostly need
an SUV. 2/3 of the premium car market in
Russia is SUV because of harsh winter conditions.
Another difference is that income
distribution in Russia is very different form
Western Europe. Western Europe tends
to have flat income distribution. There are
a lot of people in middle class, few very
rich people and few very poor people. In
Russia, there are a lot of very rich people,
small middle class and lots of people with
low income. So the potential for the people
who have a lot of money in Russia is very
high. Besides, in Russia the people who
have money are younger than Western
Europe. In Western Europe the lifetime to
earn enough money to buy a premium car
in Western Europe is 50 years old. When it's
Russia, it's 40 years old. Because the people
who lived in the previous communist regime
are not those who are the most wealthy
today. In Russia you have many people who
made a lot of money in a very short time in
their 30's and 40's. We also have female customers
in Russia. I would say that comfort
is more important than car performance
for them because of the nature of the
roads. We come back to SUVs. If you are
very affluent in Western Europe, you
might buy a sport car. But the market
for sport car in Russia is very small
because quality of the roads is not good
enough to enjoy sport cars.
As you know, the Russian market is
not going very well. What do you think
about the current situation?
It's not a good situation as you may
