ABD, gelecekte yaşanabilecek muhtemel
krizlere hazırlıklı olabilmek için Meksika
Körfezi’nde belirli ihracat düzenlemeleri
gerçekleştiriyor.
ABD’NİN DOĞAL GAZ ÜRETİMİ ve İHRACAT
STRATEJİSİ
Son zamanlarda kullanılan hidrolik kırılma
teknolojisi ile birlikte ABD yurt içi doğal gaz
üretimini de önemli ölçüde arttırdı. ABD’nin
doğal gaz üretimi geçtiğimiz sekiz yılda 500
milyar metreküpten yaklaşık 700 milyar
metreküpe yükseldi ve Kuzey Amerika’daki
tüketiciler için gaz fiyatlarının düşmesini
sağladı. Söz konusu arz fazlası, ABD’deki
doğal gaz referans fiyatlarının belirlendiği
Henry Hub ile Almanya’daki ortalama ithalat
fiyatları arasında özellikle 2006 yılından
sonra ciddi bir fiyat farkı oluşmasına yol
açtı. Avrupa ve Amerika piyasalarında bu
düzeylerde görülen fiyat farklarının yanı sıra
AB’nin enerji arz kaynaklarını çeşitlendirme
isteği, Amerikalı üreticileri ve ABD hükümetini
doğal gazı LNG olarak ihraç etmeye
teşvik ediyor. Mevcut fiyat farkı gelecekte de
yatırımcıları daha fazla doğal gaz çıkarma
ve dünya piyasalarına daha çok gaz ihraç
etme yönünde teşvik etmeyi
sürdürecek.
Avrupa gaz piyasasının

one of the main causes of the slump in oil
prices is coined as the hike in crude oil
supply in non-OPEC member countries.
In two years from 2012 to 2014, non-OPEC
oil production share has increased from
56.5 to 58.7 percent. However, the US share
also increased from 10.3 to 13.1 percent in
the same period. Therefore, excluding the
US, non-OPEC market share has actually
decreased across the world. Looking
at these numbers, one of the major forces
driving the current oil oversupply is indeed
the increased US production. This increase
in supply paved the way for the decline
in crude imports (especially from Saudi
Arabia) and led the petroleum exporter
countries to compete for keeping their
market share intact.
On a related note, last month at the IICEC
Energy Forum in Istanbul, Melanie
Kenderdine, Energy Counselor of the
Secretary at the US Department of Energy,
declared that securing global oil supply
security, protecting the US allies across the
world, and preventing excessively high oil
prices are part of the US interests. In order
to achieve these long term interests, the
increase in US domestic energy production
has played a key role and will continue to
do so in the future. As Kenderdine points
–despite the current ban on crude oil exports-
US has also been making the necessary
export arrangements in the Mexican
Gulf as part of their preparation for potential
future supply crises.
US NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION and
EXPORT STRATEGY
With the recent hydraulic fracking technology,
US have also boosted domestic
natural gas production. US natural gas
production increased from 500 to approximately
700 bcm within the past eight
years, leading to cheaper gas for Northern
American consumers. This oversupply
paves the way for a large price gap
between US Henry Hub and German import
price especially after 2006. Such gas
price difference between European and
American markets, as well as EU’s inclination
to diversify its energy supply encourage
the American producers and the US
government to export its natural gas as
LNG. This price gap will continue to encourage
the investors to extract and export
more natural gas to the world markets.
