Attention will be paid to certa<strong>in</strong> factors like school accreditation, rank<strong>in</strong>gs, and local reputation.As an educator myself, I realize that often times your child attends a summer camp that offers verylimited access to physical and whole child activities. When you send your child to summer camp, even<strong>in</strong> a daycare sett<strong>in</strong>g it is important that you receive value and reputation as well as adequate child careservice. <strong>Today</strong> I will spotlight <strong>the</strong> first <strong>in</strong> a series of <strong>the</strong> best summer camps for preschoolers.Located on <strong>the</strong> College of Staten Island (<strong>CSI</strong>) campus, <strong>the</strong> Staten Island Day Camp offers <strong>the</strong> bestamenities that one can f<strong>in</strong>d at a college campus. He oughtto be, a former Physical Education Teacher and now retired NYC Board of Education Pr<strong>in</strong>cipal, MichaelHalpern has been runn<strong>in</strong>g his camp for 32 years. When he started runn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> camp at its formerWillowbrook location, <strong>the</strong>re were 40 children <strong>in</strong> attendance. Now <strong>the</strong> Staten Island Summer Day Camphas “close to 400 children <strong>in</strong> attendance.”The Staten Island Day Camp Early Childhood program is designed to enhance <strong>the</strong> day camp experiencefor your young child. Michael Halpern adds, “A great beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g for our youngest children obviouslyneeds to start with great educators.”The Staten Island Day Camp is accredited by <strong>the</strong> Camp<strong>in</strong>g Association and <strong>the</strong>re are over 750 standardsthat Halpern must follow to ma<strong>in</strong>ta<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> accreditation. Michael Halpern states, “I want to re-<strong>in</strong>state <strong>the</strong>social process of most children.
