Wheels and tiresRun-flat tiresThe symbol identifying run-flat tires is a circlewith the letters RSC on the sidewall.Run-flat tires comprise a conditionally self-supportingtire and a special rim. The reinforcementin the sidewalls ensures that the tire cancontinue to be used subject to certain restrictions,even if depressurized.For information on continuing to drive with a flattire, refer to Indication of a flat tire on page 73.New wheels and tiresHave new wheels and tires installed onlyby your BMW center or tire shop thatworks according to BMW repair procedureswith correspondingly trained personnel. If thiswork is not carried out properly, there is a dangerof subsequent damage and related safetyhazards. Make sure that the new wheels are balanced.
When properly used, these tires meet the higheststandards in terms of safety and handlingcharacteristics.Special characteristics of winter tiresBMW recommends winter tires for winter roadsor at temperatures below +457/+76.Although all-season M+S tires provide betterwinter traction than summer tires, they generallyfail to provide the same levels of coldweatherperformance as winter tires.Pay attention to speedAlways comply with the speed limit for thewinter tires mounted on your car; failureto do so could result in tire damage and accidents.
