LampsThe indicator lamp in the instrumentcluster lights up when the high beamsare activated. The system automaticallyswitches from high beams to low beamsand vice versa in response to oncoming traffic,traffic ahead of you, and adequate ambientlighting, e.g. on city streets.Switching the high beams on and offmanuallyWhenever you wish, or when the situationrequires, you can intervene:> If the high-beam assistant switches on thehigh beams, but you would like to drive withthe low beams, simply switch off the highbeams using the turn signal/high beamlever. This deactivates the high-beamassistant.To reactivate the system, briefly push theturn signal/high beam lever toward the highbeams again.> If the high-beam assistant switches on thelow beams, but you would like to drive withthe high beams, switch on the high beamsas usual. This deactivates the system andthe high beams need to be switched offmanually, if necessary.To reactivate the system, briefly push theturn signal/high beam lever toward the highbeams again.> Use the headlamp flasher as usual with thelow beams switched on.System limitationsThe high-beam assistant cannot serve asa substitute for the driver's personal judgmentof when to use the high beams. Therefore,manually switch off the high beams in situationswhere this is required to avoid a safety risk. In very unfavorable weather conditions,such as fog or heavy precipitation> In detecting poorly-lit road users, such aspedestrians, cyclists, horseback riders andwagons; when driving close to train or shiptraffic; and at animal crossings> In tight curves, on hilltops or in depressions,in cross traffic or half-obscured oncomingtraffic on highways> In poorly lit towns and cities and in the presenceof highly reflective signs> At low speeds> When the windshield in front of the interiorrearview mirror is fogged over, dirty or coveredwith stickers, etc.> If the sensor is dirty. Clean the sensor onthe front of the interior rearview mirror usinga cloth moistened with a small amount ofglass cleaner.Fog lamps*To switch on/off, press the button.The parking lamps or low beams mustbe switched on for the fog lamps tooperate. The green indicator lamp inthe instrument cluster lights up whenever thefog lamps are on.The fog lamps are switched off while you activatethe headlamp flasher or switch on the highbeams.If the automatic headlamp control is activated,the low beams will come on automaticallywhen you switch on the fog lamps.
