Adaptive light control*The conceptAdaptive light control is a variable headlampcontrol system that enables better illuminationof the road surface. Depending on the steeringangle and other parameters, the light from theheadlamp follows the course of the road.In tight curves at speeds up to 40 mph/70 km/h,e.g. on mountainous roads or when turning, anadditional, corner-illuminating lamp is switchedon that lights up the inside area of the curve.Activating adaptive light controlWith the ignition switched on, turn the lightswitch to position 3, refer to page 81.The corner-illuminating lamp is switched onautomatically, depending on the steering wheelangle or turn signal indicator.Standstill function*: to avoid blinding oncomingtraffic, the adaptive light control directs lighttowards the front passenger side when thevehicle is at a standstill.When you are reversing, only the corner-illuminatinglamps are switched on and active onboth sides.MalfunctionThe LED next to the symbol for automatic headlampcontrol flashes. Adaptive light control ismalfunctioning or has failed. Have the systemchecked as soon as possible.High beams/roadside parkinglamps*1 High beams2 Headlamp flasher3 Roadside parking lamps*Roadside parking lamps, left or right*There is an additional option of switching on thelamps on the side of the car facing the roadwhen parked.Switching onAfter parking the vehicle, press the lever up ordown beyond the pressure point for approx.1 second, arrow 3.The roadside parking lamps drain the battery.Therefore, do not leave them on forunduly long periods of time; otherwise, the batterymight not have enough power to start theengine.
