2006-2008 CATALOGILLINOIS ARTICULATION INITIATIVE(IAI) www.iTransfer.org<strong>Prairie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong> participates in the Illinois ArticulationInitiative (IAI), a statewide agreement that allows transfer of thecompleted Illinois Transferable General Education CoreCurriculum between participating institutions. Completion ofthe Transferable General Education Core Curriculum at anyparticipating college or university in Illinois assures transferringstudents that lower-division general education requirements foran associate’s or bachelor’s degree have been satisfied. Thisagreement became effective statewide in the Summer of 1998.It applies to students who enrolled in an associate or baccalaureatedegree-granting institution as a first-time freshman insummer 1998 or later. More than 100 schools, including allcommunity colleges and all public state universities in Illinois, aswell as most independent colleges and universities in the state,participate in the IAI.IAI COURSE CODESIAI has its own course numbering sequence for the IllinoisTransferable General Education Core Curriculum (GECC).Here is an example of an IAI GECC course –S7 903D: Racial and Ethnic RelationsThis code would be noted for a PSC course listed in this <strong>catalog</strong>as follows:SOCIO 220 (IAI: S7 903D)Race Relations: A Multicultural PerspectiveThe first letter in the IAI GECC code indicates the disciplinefield for the course. The letter S, for example, indicatesSocial/Behavioral Sciences. IAI letter codes and their correspondingdisciplines are as follows:General Education Core Curriculum Course Codes:IAI: C CommunicationIAI: F Fine ArtsIAI: H HumanitiesIAI: HF Interdisciplinary Humanities and Fine ArtsIAI: HS Interdisciplinary Humanities/Fine Arts andSocial/Behavioral SciencesIAI: L, LP Life SciencesIAI: M MathematicsIAI: P, LP Physical SciencesIAI: S Social/Behavioral SciencesThe first number after the letter indicates the sub-area of thediscipline.
