Degree • Suggested CurriculumThis curriculum is designed to help students select courseswhich are likely to apply to a major in Occupational Therapy.The courses listed are suggested courses which are designed tosatisfy requirements in the Associate in Science degree programat <strong>Prairie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong> and to provide the basis for transferringto a four-year institution.Occupational therapists are concerned with people’s abilityto perform their work, self-care and play in a competent, selfsatisfyingmanner. When disease, trauma, or stress interfereswith performance, the occupational therapist uses various methodsof mutual problem-solving, environmental modification andadaptive devices to support and enhance performance. Thisprogram provides the foundation course work necessary foradmission to an occupational therapy program. Occupationaltherapy programs are masters degree level programs whichrequire two years of prerequisite course work followed by fouryears in an approved occupational therapy program. Admissionto occupational therapy programs is very competitive!I. Degree • Suggested CurriculumDEGREES, CERTIFICATES, COURSESTRANSFER DEGREESThis curriculum is designed to help students select courseswhich are likely to apply to a pre-Pharmacy program.Thecourses listed are suggested courses which are designed to satisfyrequirements in the Associate in Science degree program at<strong>Prairie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>College</strong> and to provide the basis for transferringto a four-year institution.The practice of clinical pharmacy promotes optimal, safe andappropriate drug use by patients. The clinical pharmacist istrained in all aspects of drug therapy management and patientdrug education. The Pre-Pharmacy program provides studentswith the foundation course work necessary to meet the prerequisitesfor admission to a school of pharmacy. Pharmacyschools require applicants to complete two years of pre-pharmacycourse work. The colleges of Pharmacy then offer thefinal four years of a six-year program leading to the Doctor ofPharmacy degree (PharmD). Admission to these programs isvery competitive.I.
