Students will have aproject-based experience that introduces the paramedic to therole of instructor, EMS coordinator, quality assurance managerand the like. Students will be assigned to observe and assist variousindividuals who function in a management or leadershiprole in emergency pre-hospital care or the education of prehospitalcare providers.Assignments will reflect hands-on experiencerelated to the preceptor’s daily responsibilities.Thisexperience will also include observational and hands-on experiencewith end-of-life and pastoral care.EMS 235PARAMEDICINE: SEMINAR IIPrerequisites: Concurrent Enrollment in EMS 220, EMS 225 andEMS 2351 lecture hour per week: 1 hour creditThis course is designed to provide students with an opportunityto discuss field and hospital-based experiences they encounterduring the final semester of their core curriculum. It provides aforum to help insure the successful transition to the workworld. Previously determined topics will be discussed that gobeyond the scope of the core curriculum. It developsthe ability to write clear, correct, effective personal, expositoryand argumentative prose. It emphasizes critical reading skills,collaborative peer work and use of library resources. Studentswrite a minimum of five essays with extensive revisions. Reviewof grammar and mechanics is included. Note:All students mustcomplete the English101 Exit Test with a passing grade in orderto pass English 101.ENG 102 (IAI: C1 901R)COMPOSITION IIPrerequisite: ENG 101 with a C or better3 lectures per week: 3 hrs creditThis is the second course in the composition sequence.Emphasis is on the writing process with special attention to theresearch paper.Writing activities include both short and longerforms of traditional academic writing including a documentedinvestigative paper and critical reader-response writing.
