DegreeThis program prepares men and women for careers asadvanced pre-hospital care providers, trained to administer careto clients who have experienced acute medical or traumaemergencies.As skilled health care providers, paramedics functionindependently in the field or under the guidance of standingmedical orders.The program provides a combination of generaleducation courses, core courses in paramedicine, andselected clinical and field experiences in hospitals and EMSdepartments. Upon successful completion, students will be eligibleto write the National Registry licensing examination. Nostudent will be permitted to write the licensing exam prior tocompletion of the Associate in Applied Science degree.Prior to admission to the Paramedicine program, studentsmust submit a Paramedicine Intent Form.The deadline for theintent form is June 1 of each year.To be eligible to enroll in thecore paramedicine courses, students must have successfullycompleted the EMT-B course, passed the state licensing exam,presented documentation of a minimum of six months of fieldexperience as an EMT-B and be “in good standing” withrequired continuing education credits. Students must also completeSRT 100 Medical Terminology, BIOL 221 Anatomy andPhysiology I, and BIOL 222 Anatomy and Physiology II, all with agrade of C or better, before being eligible to enroll in EMS 200-level courses.PROGRAM REQUIREMENTSI.
