Also <strong>in</strong>cluded is a reflection <strong>of</strong> the modern rock climb<strong>in</strong>g trend onlimestone <strong>and</strong> on the cont<strong>in</strong>ent.It is fifty years s<strong>in</strong>ce the first sod was cut for the Club hut at Brackenclose. There is considerable enthusiasm at present for the purchase <strong>of</strong> a suitable hut <strong>in</strong>Scotl<strong>and</strong>. This would undoubtedly exp<strong>and</strong> the Club's rock, ice, ski<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong>Munro-bagg<strong>in</strong>g activities. The <strong>Fell</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Rock</strong> Climb<strong>in</strong>g Club has always been closely associated with thedevelopment <strong>of</strong> rock climb<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the Lake District, especially <strong>in</strong> the production<strong>of</strong> a cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g <strong>series</strong> <strong>of</strong> def<strong>in</strong>itive rock climb<strong>in</strong>g Guides. It is good to see that, with the evolution <strong>of</strong>'high-tech' rock climb<strong>in</strong>g, the discovery <strong>of</strong> large numbers<strong>of</strong> new climbs cont<strong>in</strong>ues on high crags <strong>and</strong> far-flung outcrops. Long may thiscont<strong>in</strong>ue.<strong>1986</strong> is the <strong>Year</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Tiger.
