The SMP is also subject to the requirements for subsidence monitoring andreporting set out in the document New Approval Process for Management of Coal Mining Subsidence– Policy.12 Operations must be carried out in a manner that ensures the safety of persons or stock in the vicinity of theoperations. All drill holes shafts and excavations must be appropriately protected, to the satisfaction of theDirector General, to ensure that access to them by persons and stock is restricted.
