<strong>UNDP</strong> Municipal Governance and Susta<strong>in</strong>able Development Programme <strong>First</strong> <strong>Quarterly</strong> <strong>Progress</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2009</strong>2.1 DEVELOPMENT RESULTSIn <strong>2009</strong>, the <strong>UNDP</strong>/MGSDP focuses on improv<strong>in</strong>g the capacities of central government todecentralize fiscal and adm<strong>in</strong>istrative powers / responsibilities <strong>in</strong> support of local development;strengthen<strong>in</strong>g capacities of local authorities to transparently def<strong>in</strong>e and implement localdevelopment strategies, deliver public services and foster local development; and enhanc<strong>in</strong>gcapacities of communities to realize improvements <strong>in</strong> local social, economic and environmentalconditions. In addition, <strong>UNDP</strong>/MGSDP focuses on SDC sub-project <strong>in</strong> V<strong>in</strong>nytsya region andAR Crimea and CIDA sub-project <strong>in</strong> AR Crimea.
