<strong>UNDP</strong> Municipal Governance and Susta<strong>in</strong>able Development Programme <strong>First</strong> <strong>Quarterly</strong> <strong>Progress</strong> <strong>Report</strong> <strong>2009</strong>B) Public Audit<strong>in</strong>gUpon completion of the project, the community members have the legitimate right to: 1) obta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>formation about results of the project implementation; 2) <strong>in</strong>spect all related f<strong>in</strong>ancial andtechnical documents; 3) express any concerns about quality of the accomplished works; 4) makerecommendations on how to improve future performance of the community. The public auditprocedure promoted by the Programme allows the community members to realize this right.Dur<strong>in</strong>g the quarter, 4 community-based organizations practiced public audit<strong>in</strong>g upon completionof their respective development <strong>in</strong>itiatives. For this purpose, general meet<strong>in</strong>gs were organized <strong>in</strong>participation of various stakeholders and conclusions were made about the <strong>in</strong>habitants’satisfaction with the works and services provided for project’s implementation. In total, 283 outof 337 general community members participated <strong>in</strong> the public audits. In total, 16 HRD activities were held dur<strong>in</strong>g the quarter, out of which 8 wereconducted by the MSUs of partner municipalities and 8 were conducted by the PMU/Kyiv.
