About This <strong>Manual</strong>This manual is intended for use by service techniciansresponsible for installing and servicing <strong>920i</strong> ® digitalweight indicators. This manual applies to Version 4.xof the <strong>920i</strong> indicator software.NOTES: Version 4.x requires Rev E CPU board or newer. Version 4.00 requires Rev E; version 4.01 requires Rev F orhigher. If using in conjunction with iQUBE 1, use Version 3.xand iRev 3; If using in conjunction with iQUBE 2 , use version4.x and iRev 4.Configuration and calibration of the indicator can beaccomplished using the iRev 4 configuration utility,serial commands, or the indicator front panel keys.See Section 3.1 on page 22 for information aboutconfiguration methods.1.0 IntroductionThe <strong>920i</strong> is a programmable, multi-channel digitalweight indicator/controller. The configuration can beperformed using the front panel, with an attachedPS/2 ®1 -type keyboard, or using the iRev 4 utility.Custom event-driven programs can be written with theiRite language up to 512K in program size. Theseprograms are compiled with an iRite compiler utility,which can only be downloaded into the indicator. TheRLWS Web Update utility can be used to download<strong>920i</strong> firmware upgrades to a PC from the RLWS website; iRev 4 provides functions for installing the newsoftware into the <strong>920i</strong>.Onboard FeaturesFeatures of the basic <strong>920i</strong> include:• Support for A/D scale or serial scale inputs.The maximum number of scale inputs is 28;these can be combined to represent up to 32scale configurations.• Six digital I/O channels on main board, eachconfigurable as either input or output.• Four serial ports on main board (Ports 1–4)support duplex RS-232 up to 115200 bps. Port2 supports hardware handshaking and remotekeyboard input; Ports 3 and 4 support 20mAoutput; Port 4 supports 2-wire RS-485communications.• External DB-9 and DIN-8 connectors forserial connection to a PC and attachment ofPS/2-type remote keyboard.• Available in 115 VAC and 230 VAC NorthAmerican and European versions.1. Please leave the Operator Card with theindicator when installation and configuration areOther features include:• 62K of non-volatile RAM can be allocated todatabases using the iRev 4 database editor.• Configurable print formats can be defined forup to 1000 characters each. These formats areused to print gross or net weights, truck in/outweights, setpoint weights, accumulatorweights, alert messages, and headerinformation. Additional print formats can becreated with iRite.• Six truck modes to store and recall weightsfor gross, tare, and net printing. The truckregister contains fields for ID number, weight,and the transaction time and date. Weights canbe stored permanently or erased at the end ofthe transaction.• The setpoint engine supports 31 configurablesetpoint kinds. Setpoints can be arranged in asequential batch routine of up to 100 steps. Ifsetpoints are configured as free runningsetpoints, they can be tied to program control.This allows for simultaneous batchingoperations to be written with the iRitelanguage.The <strong>920i</strong> is NTEP-certified for Classes III and III L at10,000 divisions. See Section 10.14 on page 127 formore information about additional certifications andapprovals.Option CardsThe CPU board provides two slots for installing A/Dor other option cards. Additional option cards can beadded using either two-card or six-card expansionboards connected to the CPU board via the expansionbus. Available option cards include:Introduction 1
