New collaborative research programmes:Departments continue to maintain collaborative arrangements with variousorganizations and institutions for research programmes:Department of Economics, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> has collaboration with <strong>Madras</strong>Institute of Development Studies (MIDS) for research.• Department of Commerce has signed an MOU with ICICI Bank to offer bankingcourse through an E-Learning Module.• Department of Commerce, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> offers World Class BusinessEducation Programme funded by Ms. Chandrika Tandon, a distinguished alumnaof the department. The program has brought in radical changes in the quality ofeducation offered by the Department of Commerce.• Department of Social Work (aided stream) has signed MoU’s with MediantMental Health Institution, Enscheda, The Netherlands; Saxion University, TheNetherlands; Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, Canada; and Chang Jung<strong>Christian</strong> University, Taiwan, to facilitate teaching and research.• Department of Statistics, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> has research collaborationswith Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Chennai, National Sample SurveyOrganization (NSSO) and the Departments of Statistics of other colleges andUniversity of <strong>Madras</strong> for the academic benefit of the students.• Department of Chemistry, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> has signed a MoU withOrchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and conducted a training programmefor their employers under the programme ‘OLIVE’ in <strong>2005</strong>.• Department of Chemistry, <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong> has collaborativearrangements with leading research institutions like CLRI, CSIR, CECRI, NEERI,Asthagiri Research Institutions, IGCAR, Hindustan Photo Films-Ooty, to carryPostgraduate research projects.
