Activities reflecting the goals and objectives of the institution:Academic excellence, social relevance and spiritual vitality are the importantelements of the educational experience offered at <strong>Madras</strong> <strong>Christian</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Variousactivities organized during the academic year <strong>2005</strong>-06 reflect how the college isanchored to its mission and how the goals are set to fulfill them.a. Academic Excellence:• Apart from innovations in the focus area of teaching and learning, research andconsultancy were given adequate emphasis during this academic year.• Opportunities for international student exchange programmes enabled students toearn credits from educational institutions abroad and transfer the same to MCCfor award of degree.• International programmes were organized by the college to enable students andfaculty from other universities to come to MCC for study and/or to do research.• Innovation in the curriculum with the introduction of the Choice Based CreditSystem enabled students to benefit from the Interdisciplinary and General Coursesthat give a broader knowledge base apart from that given by their major course.They also have the freedom to choose the courses.• Continuous Assessment Tests and the innovative methods like seminars,assignments, and power point presentation helped students to perform better intheir overall educational pursuits.• Value based learning and Personality Development Programmes offered for theunder graduate students provided an overall development for students andenhanced their employability.b. Social Relevance:• The National Service Scheme of the <strong>College</strong> organized various activities likeblood donation camp, cleaning of campus, issue of Drivers’ Learning License forstaff and students by the Tambaram RTO etc.3
