<strong>AQAR</strong> <strong>2005</strong>-<strong>2006</strong>, MADRAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, CHENNAI30. Activities and support from the alumni association:The alumni association continues to be active both in terms of activities andextending their support to their alma mater. Chapter meetings were held, theChristmas Concert was organized in December and alumni got together for the oldboys cricket match which was held in February <strong>2006</strong>31. Activities and support from the Parent-Teacher association:• Parent-Teacher Association is not formally structured. It is mandatory that allparents be present for the orientation programme conducted immediately after thecollege reopens every academic year. All parents or guardians have to sign thestudent record and parents and guardian should check the progress of students inthe hall. This has enabled the college to have regular contact with parents.• The Dean of Student Affairs periodically contacts students, parents based onacademic progress and disciplinary aspects. All the department Heads inviteparents as and when needed to discuss the progress of the students.• Some departments also do an orientation for parents on the course and its contentat the beginning of the academic year.32. Health services:A Resident Medical Officer in the college caters to the needs of students and staff oncampus. This service is offered to all students (resident and non-resident) and staff(teaching and non teaching). Free prescription and basic medicine are given to staffmembers and students. The doctor also visits the college extension centers to providehealth services for the poor and marginalized. The college has a strong tie-up withhospitals in and around Tambaram for access during emergencies. A medical fund isalso available for meeting the health needs of women workers in MCC.33. Performance in sports activities:Details of events in which Prizes/ Medals were won at the Inter-collegiate, State andNational level games during <strong>2005</strong>-06:37
