<strong>AQAR</strong> <strong>2005</strong>-<strong>2006</strong>, MADRAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, CHENNAISTUDENT CHRISTIAN MOVEMENTThe Student <strong>Christian</strong> Movement organized various programmes for the academicyear. The focus of the programmes was on building a strong <strong>Christian</strong> value baseamong the students with a social relevance. The programmes were:• Fresher’s Retreat with the Navodaya Team; Workshop on ‘the Da Vinci Hoax:Exploring the Errors in the Da Vinci Code’ led by Mr Cyril George of RZIM LifeFocus Society, New Delhi; screening of the movie ‘Run Baby Run’, theremarkable life story of Nicky Cruz, whose best selling autobiography has morethan 12 million copies in print in over 40 languages;• Students of SCM have taken efforts to get together children form ReachOrphanage and the Model Village for a day of retreat and sharing which gave thelittle hearts a time to rejoice and meet new friends; a one-day retreat wasconducted by SCMers for children in a school in the neighbourhood.• ‘The Saviour’s Day – the SCM Christmas Programme led by the world renownedmission leader Mr. R. Stanley, a former IITian and the Founder & President ofBlessing Youth Mission; Gospel Fest ’06-Screening of Movies like ‘Candle in theDark’ – the story of William Carey (the Father of the Modern Missions) andGod’s Outlaw – the story of William Tyndale.• Thought-provoking session on the lives of the founders of our <strong>College</strong> and othermissionaries who have laid down their lives for the cause of Christ, MusicConcert with emphasis on Missions led by the noted gospel singer MahboobKhan.• Leadership Training Camp was held at St Thomas International Centre, Hill Top,St. Thomas Mount. Resource persons were: Mr. Anand Pillai, Vice-President,HCL Technologies, Mr. Ashok Vedanayagam, Chief Coordinator, FMPB and Mr.Silas Balraj, Country Director, Caruna Bal Vikas.CENTRE FOR WOMEN’S STUDIESThe Centre for Women’s Studies has played a remarkable role in making the collegecommunity and the communities in and around Tambaram aware of the status ofwomen through its academic and outreach programmes.
