<strong>AQAR</strong> <strong>2005</strong>-<strong>2006</strong>, MADRAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, CHENNAIPart APlan of Action:Industry-institution interface to ensure employability ofstudents and thus contribute to national developmentOutcome:Funding agencies were identified and project proposals were submitted to nationaland international agencies such as University Grants Commission, Department ofScience and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Environment andForests and United Board for <strong>Christian</strong> Higher Education in Asia. During the year<strong>2005</strong>-06, there has been a steady increase in the consultancy services offered toindustries, foreign universities and colleges, Government and non-governmentalorganizations, thereby providing internships and training to students.Plan of Action:Encourage extracurricular and extramural activities ofstudents to give a comprehensive educational experienceand thus improve global competencies among them.Outcome:Sports: Our students represented the University of <strong>Madras</strong> in various sports activitiesand brought laurels in games such as Volley Ball, Cricket, Ball-Badminton, Athletics,Kho-Kho, etc. Students were also actively involved in both national and internationalyouth festivals.Cultural: The <strong>College</strong> Union Society and all the halls conducted a number of culturalprogrammes.Co-curricular Activities: The Department Associations spearheaded a number ofstudent activities. The Student <strong>Christian</strong> Movement involved students in <strong>Christian</strong>activities and outreach programmes. NSS and NCC have been very active.Plan of Action:Introduce innovative and job oriented programmes.Outcome:Four new programmes were started in this academic year, of which three were at theUG level (Social Work, Journalism, Geography, Tourism & Travel Management) andone at the PG level (Applied Microbiology).2
