<strong>AQAR</strong> <strong>2005</strong>-<strong>2006</strong>, MADRAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE, CHENNAI• ‘Let’s Talk’, a programmes for the PG and final year UG students. The aim wasto empower women students with the right knowledge and education aboutreproductive health. About 300 women students benefitted from this programme.• An annual sale was organized for the benefit of women workers on campus. Theproceeds from the sale was credited to the ‘Women Workers Welfare Fund’.• The Micro Credit programme started for the benefit of women workers oncampus led them to financial savings. Medical checkups were also organized forthem.• The centre works in three slum clusters at Durga Nagar, about 10 kms away fromMCC.SCHOOL OF CONTINUING EDUCATIONThe academic year of the MCC School of Continuing Education (MCCSCE)commenced on 7 th July <strong>2005</strong> with the enrolment of candidates for the full-timediploma and post-graduate diploma courses. This year witnessed the followingprogress:• There was a demand for courses such as Medical Laboratory Technology,Printing Technology, PG Diploma in Bio-informatics and Computer Science.• Students from the Aided Stream were opting for the short term certificate eveningprogrammes in Advertising and Public Relations, Human Resource Management,Business Management and Computer Applications.• The X Annual Convocation of the MCCSCE was held on 14 October <strong>2005</strong>. Adistinguished alumnus of the college, Dr S. A. Nallathambi, delivered theConvocation Address.CULTURAL PROGRAMMES• The inter–collegiate cultural festival ‘Deepwoods’ is conducted by the <strong>College</strong>Union Society annually. The three day event received wide press coverage andappreciative feedback from alumni.• The residential halls of the college also conducted their unique cultural festivals.31
