Nehru of III B.Sc. won the first prize for Loyola Beauty in 60 minutes, LoyolaCollege, Chennai, January 2006.Department of Zoology• B. Prashanth, II B.Sc. Zoology, won the II prize in the Essay competition onEnvironmental Issues, Conducted by New Acropolis Cultural Organization’ heldat Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai.Department of Visual Communication (SFS)• Students of the department won the overall championship at CRAB conducted bythe Artlab, Media Institute, Chennai.• The third year students bagged the first and second places in photographycompetition held at JIPMER, Pondicherry.• Deepa Beulah Evylen is the Chairperson for the NGO, Asian Youth Centre whichis responsible for constituting the 1066 helpline for women and children.Department of Microbiology (SFS)• The students of the department participated in the Inter-collegiate programme onEnvironmental Awareness organized jointly by the Government of Tamil Naduand Loyola College and won the Rolling Trophy for winning maximum number ofevents.• Arun Krishnamoorthy and Susheel Kumar, students of the department, won thepaper presentation competition organized by the Scrub Society and KATHA on‘City Environment’ and were selected to attend the ten-day InternationalConference on ‘Writing the city and transforming the city’ in New Delhi.44
