The sample of cerium niobiumtitanium oxide was prepared at NBS by R. S.Roth from stoichiometric mixtures of ceriumoxide, niobium oxide, and titanium oxide. Thesample was heated first at 1300 °C for 3 hrs. andthen reheated at 1325 °C for three more hours.Spectrographic analysis showed the followingmajor impurities: 0.001 to 0.01 percent each ofaluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and silicon.The sample was a dark brown opaque powder.The d-values of the three strongest lines are:2.975, 3.024, and 3.106 A,Structural data. Komkov [1] in 1959 determined that cerium niobium titanium oxide has thespace group DJ£-Pmnb (No. 62) with 4(CeNbTiO 6 )per unit cell.
