Zinc Telluride, ZnTe (cubic)Powder data cardsCardnumber1-0582Indexlines3. 502. 141.83SourceNew Jersey Zinc Co.Additional published patterns. None.NBS sample. The sample of zinc telluridewas obtained from Semi-Elements, Inc., Saxonburg,Pa. Spectrographic analysis showed thefollowing major impurities: 0.01 to 0.1 percentof silicon/ and 0.001 to 0.01 percent each ofaluminum, barium, iron, and magnesium.The color of the sample was reddish-brown.The indices of refraction were too high to bedetermined by the usual grain-immersion method.The ^-values of the three strongest lines are:3.523, 2.159, and 1.840 A.Structural data. Zachariasen [1] in 1925 determined that zinc telluride has the zinc sulfidestructure, the space group T;j~-F43m (No. 216),and 4[ZnTe] per unit cell. The unit cell measurement reported by Zachariasen has been convertedfrom kX to angstrom units for comparison withthe NBS value.hkl111200220311222400331420422511440531600620533622444711642731dA3. 5233. 0512. 1591. 8401. 7621. 5261. 40031. 36451. 24561. 17451. 07891. 03151. 01710. 9648. 9307. 9200. 8808. 8545. 8155. 7945Internal StandardTungsten, a = 3.1648 ACu, 1.5405 A at 25 CAverage value of last five lines ___7100108137381331073616311686aA6. 1026. 1026. 1076. 1036. 1026. 1036. 1046. 1026. 1026. 1036. 10286. 10426. 10266. 10226. 10286. 10266. 10266. 10246. 10266. 10266. 1026Lattice constantsA19251963Zachariasen [1]National Bureau of Standardsat 25 °C___. _______________6. 1016. 1026ReferenceThe density of zinc telluride calculated fromthe NBS lattice constant is 5.639 g/cm 3 at 25 °C.[1] W.
