(xvi) Whether Loco Pilot leaves engine unmanned and permitsunauthorized person to drive the engine?(xvii) Whether Loco Pilot stop for 5” in case of red modified semiautomatic signal and proceed at maximum speed of 10 Kmph.(xviii) Availability of wooden wedges on loco.(xix) Availability of spare air pipe.(xx) Working of loco hand brake.(xxi) Working of Audio Visual indication in Air brake locos.8.0 SURPRISE NIGHT INSPECTION OF STATION AND L-XING GATE8.1 STATIONS(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)(v)Check of alertness and vigilance of staff whether sleeping oralert on duty in proper uniform.Exchange of all right signals by Loco Pilot and Guard with stationstaff.Whether SM himself exchanges signals or deputes pointsman forthe same on his behalf.Whether proper staff, as per roster, is on duty or unauthorisedlyexchanging duty with their colleagues?Show red signal to Guard or through passing train for checkinghis alertness.8.2 L-XING GATE(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)(v)Incognito check – whether Gateman is alert, vigilant and inproper uniform?Gateman is looking for hot axle, spring breakage, hanging partsand other dangerous conditions on the through passing trains.Loco Pilot and Guard is looking for danger signals from thegateman, check alertness of Guard by showing red signals.Condition of gate leaves, leaf catchers, lifting barriers with bell,speed breaker, road signs, clearance of channels between stockrail and check rail etc.Checking of gate parameters with the standard list issued by thedivision.9.0 DETAILED L-XING GATE INSPECTION(i)(ii)(iii)(iv)Availability of essential equipments. List of safety equipments tobe physically verified. Whether the same has been displayedprominently.Check the bio-data of Gateman, duty roster and vacancyposition at the gate.Check the knowledge of gate working rules, use of fog signalsand fusees.Whether the Gate kept in its prescribed normal position.
