The projects are grouped into the major categories used by IRMD for planning andbudgeting purposes. Cost estimates for each project, each category, and the completeproject list are provided.6.1.2 Definition <strong>of</strong> High, Medium, and Low RankingsHigh (H): These projects are critical to the success <strong>of</strong> the ORO mission. They reflectmandates, regulations, mission critical requirements, exceptional ROI potential, andother compelling justifications for immediate funding. Available funding will be allocatedto these projects on a first priority basis to ensure that substantial progress is madeduring FY 2000.DRAFTMedium (M): These projects are extremely important to the success <strong>of</strong> the ORO mission.These projects support major process improvements, provide a very high ROI, allownecessary improvements to the IT infrastructure, or otherwise contribute significantly tothe effective management and operation <strong>of</strong> ORO programs and functions. Some arehigh priority projects that have less severe timing constraints, which allows them to begiven a medium priority for the current planning period. Most <strong>of</strong> the funding that remainsafter high priority projects have been funded will be allocated to medium priority projects.Low (L): These projects are important to the success <strong>of</strong> the ORO mission. Some fall intothe category <strong>of</strong> “low-hanging” fruit, which <strong>of</strong>fer a substantial return for modestinvestment. Others are medium priority projects that do not have rigid timing constraints,allowing them to receive a low priority during the current planning period. The project mayalso fall into the category <strong>of</strong> "good business practice." Low priority projects would be fundedsubject to available funding after key elements <strong>of</strong> high and medium priority projects have beenfunded.6.1.3 FY 2000 Project SummaryFY 2000 projects are summarized in the following table and are described in more detailin following sections.
