VINHO VERDE 2009
DOC
(Anselmo Mendes Vinhos)
Winemaker/owner Anselmo Mendes is a respected
winemaker and consultant who helps out producers
throughout Portugal. Muros Antigos is his own
project. He takes great care with all levels of
production, from initial vineyard planting to the
final wine released to the public. As a result, his
Vinho Verdes are well respected for their highly
aromatic and refreshing nature, and this 2009
vintage is no exception. Enjoy it with shellfish or
TORRES GRAN SANGRE DE TORO
RESERVA 2005
DO Catalunya
TASTING NOTE: I really enjoyed the 2005 Torres
Catalunya Gran Sangre de Toro Reserva. It was
made with Grenache, Cariñena and Syrah ...
it’s cheap and very cheerful … [I had it with]
grilled octopus and fresh tuna with sautéed
peppers, and main courses of broiled red snapper
with a Cuban dish resembling polenta, and salad.
