Water, ecology, ethics, allvalues and beauties of nature, eternal life – these thingspresent us with inspiration that knows no boundaries, andthe goal and meaning of this great global occasion is toencourage preservation and reminder of the things thatreally matter.A Magical Journey Across CroatiaEver since the first participation at this exhibit in Lisbonten years ago and last year’s great success in Japan,Croatia has continued to present details of our naturaland cultural heritage in an extremely unique, emotionaland touching way. Croatia’s fourth performance atthis global occasion is led by Ivica Maričić in the roleof national commissioner presenting our Ministry of ForeignAffairs, and considering the fact that many Europeansare yet to see project “A Drop of Water – AGrain of Salt” that was presented in Japan last year,the adapted project by authors Damir Fabijanić, DaliborMartinis and Studio 3LHD has done a great job offitting into this year’s “Water and Sustainable Development”concept. The project is based on a watermolecule, which is the backbone of entire life on thisplanet, while a grain of salt is the integral part of seawater.Croatian pavilion in Zaragoza is a true magicalworld of visual, acoustic and tactile events, as well as atouching virtual journey through all the beautiful sightsour country has to offer. The whole process takes placein three separate rooms, and each of them provides adifferent set of experiences. The visitors in the first roomare captured by an installation of visual and acousticeffects called “Ambient Adjustment to the Atmospherein the Deep Sea”, created by Vjeran Šalamon. The nextroom, which takes up about seventy square metres,continues that magic with a unique voyage throughthe underwater part of the Adriatic. On the way to thegallery, you can witness the simulation of water vaporizationthat transforms the entire ambience into a saltpond, which is followed by the projection of a film directedby renowned author Vinko Brešan. The originalsimulation of a natural ambience is continued at the“Jana Water Bar”, which is dominated by the topic ofwater through four seasons of the year. A true oasis ofwater and nature that awakens and nurtures every visitor’ssenses in a truly special way.33
