At home with...Pećnica na kotačićima / Oven on wheelsSuveniri iz raznih dijelova svijeta / Souvenirs from allover the worldYoung designer Jan Alt was noticed by leadingpeople of designer brand Zoeppritz aboutfive years ago, and they invited him to join theirteam due to his imaginative designer creations.Over the course of the last several years, his innovativeand youthful ideas have transformed this traditional textilecompany into one of the leading lifestyle designerbrands in Europe. In between all of his journeys to Shanghai,Paris, Florence and Munich, he uses his design to skilfullycombine materials and samples of different cultures,while also demonstrating a lot of subtle understandingfor today’s fast way of life and typical lifestyles of young,creative and dynamic people.Using the same philosophy he embraces when creatingfor Zoeppritz, Jan Alt furnished and decorated hisLondon apartment, a comfortable and charming cityretreat to come to after his numerous journeys. The apartmenttakes up more than 200 square metres and is locatedin a one-time industrial building, and Alt decidedto turn it into his own home because he loved a largeopen space with practically no walls, but with lots ofwindows and light. The apartment almost doesn’t have100any inside walls, as the big white Italian kitchen continuesinto the dining room that is dominated by an enormousbright-wood table, which is further followed by a largeand comfortable living room. Glass surfaces were usedinstead of walls only in the bathroom and bedroom. Theremainder of the apartment is one big open space withlots of high windows, which have been deprived of anycurtains or decorations in order to enable uninterruptedaccess to daylight.The Italian kitchen is very modern, while also being functionaland simple. The one thing that attracts attentionwith its imaginativeness is an oven on wheels, and Altcame up with a special SMEG block for it in order tofreely move around his old oven on wheels around thekitchen. The thing that definitely dominates this sectionof the apartment is the massive engraved metal paintingby Karim Ghidinelli, which resembles a large fingerprint.It was bought in New York, and its metal-black colourprovides perfect contrast to the whiteness of the kitchensurfaces.The dining room is dominated by a large wooden tabledesigned by Jan Alt himself, which possesses a figure and
