After several success stories– including People’s in Zagreb and Gil’sin Dubrovnik – he is currently working on theneglected premises of the former Emona restaurantin Split Harbour, and we must admitthat the pictures of the planned project havealready impressed usInterviewed by: Martina KocijanRestaurant object “Imperium” will spread acrossover 2000 square metres, and it will feature restaurantson several levels, as well as indoor andoutdoor lounge bars and a discotheque. Theentire facility will be covered in glass, while the presentfurniture will also include famous bubble chairs. It is impliedthat “Imperium” will truly raise the image of thecity beneath Marjan. However, this restaurant isn’t theonly novelty that Duje Kaliterna is preparing in Split. Dujeand his team have been working extremely hard on thedesign of a new residential building in Split – an exclusivethree-storey building with swimming pools. His previousprojects have certainly not remained unnoticed– lounge bar People’s in Zagreb and exclusive restaurantGil’s in Dubrovnik have kept attracting visitors sincethe very day they opened.You started to independently invest into projects on theAdriatic coast this year. What encouraged you to makethat decision?50something new in the business sense, some sort of anew encouragment. We are always striving for somethingnew, and that is why I decided to make my owninvestments after two years of designing. This placesme in an entirely different role – I am now an investor/designer.Tell us something about “Imperium”, which representsyour first project in Split. What makes that restaurant sospecial and why did you choose that precise name?This project is special because of its dimensions and thesignificance it has for Split.This modern restaurant object will spread across 2000square metres in a glass-covered building within the CityHarbour itself. It will feature several restaurants, loungebar, indoor and outdoor terraces, discotheque… Ourintention was to accomplish the feeling of being on aluxurious cruise from the minute you enter this object.
