ARC SUPPRESSION BLANKETThe Arc Suppression Blanket is to beused as a barrier for protection fromthe explosive and incendiary effects ofelectrical arcs and flashes. These hazardouselectrical discharges can be causedby faults in cables, in cable splices andjoints, and at transformer terminals, orthey may be generated by the operationof switch gear, circuit breakers andlightning arrestors. The blanket can beused for worker protection in undergroundvaults, switchyards, and in otherlocations where electrical equipmentposes a risk of exposure to explosiveelectrical discharges.ARC48Because of the unpredictability ofelectrical discharges, the Arc SuppressionBlanket may not totally contain arcsand flashes, but only reduce or limitexplosive and incendiary effects.
