ARC SUPPRESSION BLANKETThe Arc Suppression Blanket is usedas a barrier for protection from theexplosive and incendiary effects ofelectrical arcs and flashes. Thesehazardous electrical discharges can becaused by faults in cables, in cablesplices and joints, and at transformerterminals, or they may be generated bythe operation of switch gear, circuitbreakers and lightning arrestors. Theblanket can be used for worker protectionin underground vaults, switchyards,and other locations where electricalequipment poses a risk of exposure toexplosive electrical discharges.Because of the unpredictability ofelectrical discharges, the Arc SuppressionBlanket may not totally contain arcsand flashes, but only reduce or limitexplosive and incendiary effects.
