13 th AnnUAL MEETing | Washington, DC USA May 19-22, 2010 19General Meeting InformationAMERICAN SOCIETY OF GENE & CELL THERAPYMission and GoalsThe American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) is a professionalnon-profit medical and scientific organization dedicated to the understanding,development and application of genetic and cellular therapies and the promotionof professional and public education in the field. ASGCT is the largest medicalprofessional organization representing researchers and scientists dedicated todiscovering new gene and cell therapies. ASGCT was established in 1996, andhas grown to 2,000 members from around the world.The Society’s goals are to:• Promote Research, Development and Application of Genetic and CellularTherapies to a Wide Variety of Human Diseases• Exchange Information and Promote Education Among Professionals andthe Public Through the Society’s Annual Meetings, the ASGCT Journal,Molecular Therapy, and Interactions with Scientific, Medical, and RegulatoryCommunitiesThe ASGCT 13th Annual Meeting will serve as a comprehensive forum to achievethese goals.Abstract Volume – Molecular TherapyAll abstracts, except Late Abstract Submissions, accepted for presentation atthe ASGCT 13th Annual Meeting have been published in the May supplementof Molecular Therapy. Each attendee will receive one copy of the supplementalong with their registration materials. Late Abstract Submissions accepted forpresentation have been printed in a booklet that will be distributed to eachattendee.AdmissionOfficial name badges will be required for admission to all ASGCT sessions. AllAnnual Meeting attendees receive a name badge with their registration bag.Name badges should be worn at all times inside the hotel, as badges will beused to control access to sessions and activities. Attendees are cautioned againstwearing their name badges while away from the hotel as badges may drawunwanted attention to your status as visitors to Washington, DC.Business Center (FedEx Office)There is a FedEx Office located in the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Thereare still a limited number of tickets available for the Meet-the-Investigatorsessions, which may be obtained at the Registration Desk. Meet-the-Investigatortickets are $30.

Indiana University School ofMedicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education forphysicians.NOTE: Sessions marked with an asterisk (*) are not part of the CME program.Designation StatementIndiana University School of Medicine designates this educational activity for amaximum of 37.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claimcredit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.CME CertificatesParticipants requiring CME certificates must go to the Registration Desk andcomplete a CME form. CME certificates will be mailed to participants after themeeting. All faculty, authors, editors, andplanning committee members participating in an IUSM-sponsored activity arerequired to disclose any relevant financial interest or other relationship with themanufacturer(s) of any commercial product(s) and/or provider(s) of commercialservices that are discussed in an educational activity.NoteWhile it offers CME credits, this activity is not intended to provide extensivetraining or certification in the field.Educational Methods and MaterialsLectures, Case Presentations, Panel Discussions, Question and Answer Sessions,Audio/Video Presentations, Abstracts, PostersEducational ObjectivesAt the conclusion of the activity, the participant should be able to:Provide advice to patients who inquire about the potential of gene and celltherapy or the availability of open clinical trials, based on their exposure to thecurrent clinical trials in gene and cell therapies.Better instruct their students in medical school and other health venues using thestate-of-the-art basic science and clinical trials data presented at the meeting.Use the latest advances in gene and cell therapy to enhance their researchmission, as physician scientists conducting basic and clinical research.Demonstrate improved regulatory compliance in conducting gene and celltherapy clinical trials, through exposure to NIH and FDA faculty during theeducational program.Evaluation MethodEvaluation by questionnaire will address program content, presentation, andpossible bias.NeedsClinical gene transfer has become more and more complex due to ongoingdevelopments in the fields of gene and cell therapy itself, together withbioethics, research integrity, and financial conflicts, as well as federalmandates, regulations and guidelines. Oligonucleotide Therapies, Novel VectorDevelopment, Host-Vector Interactions and Vaccine Therapies will be discussedas well as many other scientific topics. This meeting will provide an educationalforum for scientists and clinicians to expand their knowledge about the broaddevelopments in these fields.Target AudienceThe target audience includes basic science and translational researchers, clinicalinvestigators, physicians, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, employees offederal government and regulatory agencies, and other healthcare professionalswith an interest in the latest advancements in the field of gene and cell therapy.EXHIBITOR PROSPECTUSfinal program
