SGST Scenario Library<br />

Exercise Name: NORAD and USNORTHCOM/National Guard Bureau Radiological Dispersion Device<br />

(RDD) Scenario<br />

Delivery Date: February 2011<br />

Description: This exercise was developed for the Joint State Staff Training Course. The intended audience is State<br />

National Guard Joint Force Headquarters to exercise Domestic Operations support during a RDD scenario<br />

in their respective state. This exercise will be further developed to three levels of intensity (crawl,<br />

walk and run) as three new exercises based on Major Earthquake. The states that select a RDD as their<br />

exercise will let the JSTC team know what level they will perform at and the exercise will be built / tailored<br />

for the state exercise or run the template as they desire. The exercise is designed to test all phases<br />

of the State plan for support to local and state civilian responders as a result of a RDD incident. The<br />

State JFHQ will develop WARNORDs, OPORDs, DEPORDs, establish a Battle Rhythm, prepare Commander<br />

Update Briefs, establish a JTF, test communications with forces, accomplish Joint Reception, Staging,<br />

Onward Movement, and Integration, build JPERSTATs and establish a Common Operating Picture.<br />

Exercise Name: Getting Started with SGST<br />

Delivery Date: January 2011<br />

Description: This training module was developed as a familiarization exercise intended to be run by anyone planning<br />

to participate in a larger scale SGST exercise. Injects, mentors and chat messages are presented and<br />

the players are required to interact and upload an AAR feedback slide in the shared workspace. In essence,<br />

Players are taken through a tutorial that teaches them how to use SGST.<br />

Exercise Name: SOCPAC HA/DR Phase I and Phase II<br />

Delivery Date: July and October 2010<br />

Description: In this exercise, participants act as a Joint Planning Group (JPG) to conduct initial analysis activities in<br />

response to this Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Relief (HA/DR). Activities include the standup of a<br />

JPG, Mission Analysis, Course of Action (COA) Development, Mission Brief and a number of Tactical<br />

Operations Center (TOC) Battle Drills.<br />

Training Audience: Theater Special Operations Command (TSOC) of SOCPAC<br />
