The purpose of this course is to educate and inform individuals in the Department of Defense (DOD) and other US Government<br />

Agencies on the fundamental workings of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and how it operates within the<br />

interagency process. The student will become familiar with the history, organization, functions, and roles and responsibilities<br />

of HHS. At the conclusion of the course, the student will understand the HHS mission, capabilities and scope and how HHS<br />

responds to requests for U.S. emergency preparedness and response, including leading Public Health Emergency Support<br />

Function (ESF-8); and how HHS supports the Civilian Response Corps during reconstruction and stabilization activities.<br />
