Baerbel Johnson, AG Dan Poffenberger, AG Carol Swensen, AG Tara Bergeson Vicki Pfeffer Erik Mason Suzanne Smith SPEAKERS Baerbel Johnson, AG, is an International Reference Consultant at the Family History Library. Baerbel holds degrees in Family and Local History Studies and Sociology from BYU. With more than 20 years’ experience in European family history, she has published journal articles, contributed material for several books, and lectured at various conferences. Dan Poffenberger, AG, is a Senior Content Strategist for the Family History Department. He has been a professional genealogist for 22 years and has also worked as a Research Consultant on the British and US and Canada floors of the Family History Library in Salt Lake City. Carol Swensen, AG, is a specialist in Southern States research. Carol served as Vice President, Program Chairman and Education Chairman for the Virginia Beach Genealogical Society and has been a family history educator and researcher for 19 years. Carol currently serves as Director of the Family History Center in Lakewood, Colorado. Tara Bergeson is a North America Area Manager for FamilySearch International. In this role, she is responsible for all FamilySearch Support efforts which provide family history assistance to priesthood leaders, family history consultants, family history centers, and patrons in the southern United States. Prior to this position, Tara worked in FamilySearch support providing management support to missionaries worldwide. She and her husband Coby live in Salt Lake City, Utah with their family of three sons. Vicki Pfeffer is a professional educator in the state of Colorado. Her genealogy research interests over the past 14 years have taken her to various locations in Ontario, Quebec, New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Currently, she serves as the Boulder Colorado Stake Indexing Director and is responsible for training family history consultants. Erik Mason is Curator of Research and Information at the Longmont Museum & Cultural Center. Erik has a B.A. in Anthropology from Colorado College and an M.A. in History Museum Studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program of the State University of New York at Oneonta. He oversees the Longmont Museum’s archival collections and has curated or co-curated numerous history exhibits, including John Empson: Longmont’s Robber Baron, and Front Range Rising, winner of the Josephine Miles Award from the Colorado Historical Society and an Award of Merit from the American Association for State and Local History. Suzanne Smith started blogging in 2007 with her children's encouragement. She began with a family blog chronicling family events and stories which she still manages. In addition, she currently publishes a crafting blog with many followers. In 2010 she co-organized a large family reunion -- with over 300 people in attendance -- by creating a blog to disseminate information and encourage participation!
