Last week of April: “Cometo school by bike week.” (Winning class: no tests or answeringfor 1 day) + several posters and 2 competitions.In May: celebration.ACHIEVED OBJECTIVESWe managed to call their attention to the problem oftoo big ecological footprint, (the film was shocking) andalso showed them some ways to reduce it. (Don’t throwout what you don’t need, you can swap or convert it intosomething useful, or you can give it to poor people. Don’ttravel by car, walk, use public transport or cycle. Buylocal food. Plant fruit trees. Transport can increase yourecological footprint incredibly.) Our activities were mostlygames and fun, but students had to think and neededknowledge to answer our questions.BIGGEST OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECTAll the students in our school know what ecologicalfootprint is, and they are also aware of the dangers of“having too big foot.” They attitude has changed, thereis less litter in the corridors and classrooms. More ofthem came to school by bike than previously. Some ofthem are trying to buy local food.WHAT WENT WELL? WHAT WENT NOT SO WELL?..They loved the activities in school time, but not many ofthem stayed in the afternoon when school ended. (Theeco-buffet, eco-Christmas tree, the film, posters wentwell, but the ‘swap-present’ did not, most students ranhome.) After this not very successful activity we decidedto organize everything in school time.IMPACT ON THE SCHOOL’S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMI think our project concentrated mainly on the individuals,our aim was to change their attitude step by step. Wecould make the first few steps, they have to go on.HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE?We haven’t decided about it yet. We have plans, but haven’tagreed yet.Projects Report 25
