When we had decided whatto do we found a way how the students could do it by themselves. So they organized themselvesand worked mostly on their own. We decided everything by democratic voting.PROJECT DESCRIPTIONTOPICWe wanted to sensitize our students and teachers about their ecological footprint. Ouraims were the use of paper and a change of the offer of the school cafeteria (more sustainableproducts).MAIN ACTIVITIES▪▪making a questionnaire to get a first idea, how much impact your lifestyle has on the earth▪ ▪presentations <strong>for</strong> the kids of the first and the second <strong>for</strong>m about the ecological footprintand what they can do▪▪making paper with the junior students▪ ▪making posters about the advantage of seasonal fruits and vegetables, about the problemsof meat (unsustainability, ecological and health problems, species appropriatehusbandry), the different “footprints” of food, the problems of aluminium cans▪ ▪installing of a <strong>web</strong>site on facebook, putting in<strong>for</strong>mation about our work on our <strong>web</strong>siteand in the school paperA▪ ▪talks to teachers about reducing the waste of paper by scaling down the handouts and/or printing on both sides of the paper or also by using electronic devices or moodle.▪▪singing the “Earth Song” by Michael Jackson on the staircase of our school.▪▪developing ideas <strong>for</strong> our cafeteria.6 Schools Taking Action For Europe’s Environment
