We appeared once in the regional newspaper and in thelocal TV, but very soon, in May the next appearance iscoming.ACHIEVED OBJECTIVESOur major goal as we stated in the project plan – was/is/will be the greening of our school and mates. As youcould see, we took great steps towards it – mostly withthe planting. Out of our aimed objectives we managedto do lots of things for the protection of animals. Forit we have done the following: we fed the birds duringwinter, we placed wooden cavities for nesting,we collected and gave donation to the shelter of strayanimals, we looked for and found home for some ofthem, we organized and listened to lectures (aboutthe strictly protected Rákos viper, about water, birdprotection, and we invited a vet for instance). The topicof the photo competitions and exhibitions focused onanimals, plants and water – so those who applied andwatched the photos could think about their importanceand fragility. Next to the photos we sticked quotationsand thought-provoking sentences.BIGGEST OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECTWe are not at the end of our way of aims, but we havetaken important steps and developed confidencein ourselves. We manage to involve more and morestudents and teachers and the example we provide arefollowed by more and more people around us (moreis meant in a small scale for we are a small school, but every single change is just as important). Just toname two: we deliberately used train for the journey toLjubljana – many of the students had not travelled bytrain so far – but realised what fun and how spectacularit is. When we found a home for a dog – it was likesaving our own souls, positive feelings and examplesspread fast.WHAT WENT WELL? WHAT WENT NOT SO WELL?..When we had the plan, the way, the responsible personsand deadline for the task, it went well. We had difficultyin organizing the meetings – because the group is madeup of students from various classes. To compensate it,we made a Facebook group for communication.HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE?The visit to Šiška secondary school and the primary schoolin Koper was a celebration itself. Next September thesecond part of the exchange will take place with lots of activitieswith all the members. In May in our school we willhave a celebration for all the members of our ESFALP team(cycling, DIY, visiting a passive house). RECOMMENDATIONSIt is very important to inform and involve other students, teachers and parents - you may never know where helpwould arrive from.Don’t be afraid if you have a lot of ideas – have short andlong term plans, you don’t have to do all in a year!Projects Report 27
