ACHIEVED OBJECTIVESWe had the chance to make lifestyle decisions and madepositive changes in our district environment, we alsogained the knowledge, skills and experience for thelife in the democratic society. Our action “The greenestclassroom” inspired all the pupils and the best werethose- the6B, the7B, the4A and the 8B.They were awardedthe prizes. But the best award is being the greenest.Heal the Earth, these words are well-understood bythe pupils who do not want to stand apart, they want tobe active to contribute in a responsible way to a futureworth living. Their position is expressed in their leaflets.BIGGEST OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECTThe main problem was to motivate pupils to work togetherand feel personal responsibility for the life in school, cleanenvironment and respect to others. We started with ourself-education not urging but propagandizing our attitudetowards surrounding world. We made interesting projectsof new parks and invited everyone to express his ownvision. our posters announced new actions and the mainresult was active participation and vivid interest. 150, 200,180, 25, 400-the number of the participants differ butamong them are pupils and their parents, citizens of thedistrict. No waste, no garbage in the streets, a lot of flowersand trees planted by the children. Respect of the adultssupporting our actions. Changes in the minds of the pupilswho understand the value of Nature. Our self- respect, too.WHAT WENT WELL? WHAT WENT NOT SO WELL?..We had some problems on opening the blog but thenEugene coped with the task and we involved Andrewwho had more experience. Both had a good practice. Itwill help them in future. Not all pupils have good habitsof English as they learn French as the 1 language so weasked Peace Corps volunteer to develop their languageskills 2 times a week. We addressed the authorities forgetting trees free of charge and got them. We are thankfulto the parents who supported us.RECOMMENDATIONSI would recommend not to be afraid of taking responsibilityand believe in pupils’ creativity. Such projects widentheir outlook and give practical skills of being useful. Oneimportant thing- you need real support of the community.Sometimes teachers try to impose their way of solvingproblems- let children act as they choose, making mistakesthey will better understand how to make a right choice.IMPACT ON THE SCHOOL’S EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMTo change something you need to know the problemwell, have a wide outlook and good skills of communication. At school we showed how to work in team discussingproblems, how to get children interested by usinggames, songs, pictures, different presentations. Somewere afraid of public speaking, some for the first timedid research work, we made friends with many youngerpupils, gained their respect.HOW DID YOU CELEBRATE?We did not celebrate yet but we want to do it on the bankof the Danube near the camp fire.Projects Report 63
