任 何 人 一 踏 進 店 內 , 都 能 一 眼 看 穿Hiyashi 對 椅 子 的 迷 戀 。 坐 鎮 店 中 央的 皮 椅 來 頭 不 小 , 上 世 紀 五 十 年 代 在法 國 製 造 , 完 美 無 瑕 的 木 製 椅 身 , 縫上 看 似 雜 亂 , 實 則 精 細 無 比 的 皮 革 ,難 怪 成 為 2010 年 一 個 芝 加 哥 設 計 展的 展 品 之 一 。 此 外 , 不 得 不 提 店 內 那一 張 Eames 的 2005 年 限 量 版 eggchair, 內 裡 光 亮 的 皮 革 , 襯 上 包 在外 圍 的 啞 色 麂 皮 , 對 比 強 烈 卻 又 感 覺和 諧 。滿 目 的 精 品 , 令 人 誤 以 為 GeneralStore 是 間 開 放 的 陳 列 室 , 只 是 這裡 每 件 藏 品 都 有 個 售 價 。 照 顧 到 香港 一 般 狹 小 的 生 活 空 間 ,GeneralStore 亦 有 出 售 諸 如 煙 灰 缸 及 門 拉 手等 vintage 裝 飾 小 物 , 以 及 軍 用 帳幕 、 舊 皮 衣 等 , 同 時 更 有 一 系 列 特 別由 日 本 入 口 的 vintage 袋 。General Store 的 出 現 令 香 港 的 藝術 圈 子 生 色 不 少 , 有 空 不 妨 到 那 裡 尋找 失 落 了 的 回 憶 空 間 。Charismatic chairs are evidently a fetish of Hiyashi’s. Sittingboldly in the middle of the shop is a contemporary lookingleathered chair originating from the fifties in France. Featuredin a Chicago-based design exhibition in 2010, this breathtakingpiece consists of a smooth wooden body chiselled to perfection,with leather intricately stitched over it. Another piece of finemasterpiece is the 2005 limited edition Eames egg chair. Encasedwith leather at the front and suede on the outside, the chairexudes gloss and matt finishing both at the same time.The compilation of such fine pieces makes the General Storeeasily mistaken as a walk-in showroom. Nonetheless, majority ofthese collections are made available to the public for an askingprice. Taking into consideration of the general small livingspace in Hong Kong, the General Store also sells petite vintageornaments from ashtrays to doorknobs.
