Starting a GUI sessionmachine, specify the revokeremoteaccess option in your client user optionsfile (dsm.opt). See “Revokeremoteaccess” on page 330 <strong>for</strong> morein<strong>for</strong>mation.Client access authority only allows <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> administratorsto back up <strong>and</strong> restore files on remote machines. They do not havephysical access to the data. That is, they cannot restore the data belongingto the remote machine to their own machines. To restore data belonging toa remote machine to your own machine, you must possess at least clientowner authority.To determine what authority you have, you can use either of the followingmethods:v From the main <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> GUI window, select File → ConnectionIn<strong>for</strong>mation.v Use the <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> server QUERY ADMIN comm<strong>and</strong> from theadministrative comm<strong>and</strong> line client. See the appropriate <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>Administrator’s Reference <strong>for</strong> more in<strong>for</strong>mation about the QUERY ADMINcomm<strong>and</strong>.The <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> GUI must be run from the X Window System. If yousee the <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> icon on your desktop, <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> isalready running. Double-click the icon to open the <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong>window. If the <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> icon does not appear on your desktop, youshould start <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> using the dsmj (starts the Java GUI)comm<strong>and</strong>. <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> can run as either a <strong>for</strong>eground or backgroundprocess.To run the Java GUI in the <strong>for</strong>eground, enter:dsmjTo run the Java GUI in the background, enter:dsmj &<strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> locates the client user options file (dsm.opt) <strong>and</strong> starts withthe options specified in that file. Contact your <strong>Tivoli</strong> <strong>Storage</strong> <strong>Manager</strong> administrator if you do not knowyour password. For in<strong>for</strong>mation about changing your password, see “Changingyour password” on page 75.SetupWizardWhen the GUI client starts, it checks to see whether a client system options fileexists.
