It is not supported from a client local backupset restore.When a backup set is stacked, you can only restore data <strong>for</strong> your own node. Data<strong>for</strong> all other nodes will be skipped. When restoring data from a stacked backup seton a local device, you can only restore file level data <strong>for</strong> your own client node.Attention: Due to the portability of local backup sets, additional steps should betaken to secure local backup sets on portable media. The backup set media shouldbe physically secured since the backup set can be restored locally withoutauthenticating with the server. Each user has access to all of the data on thestacked backup set, which means that the user has access to data that they do notown, by changing the nodename or viewing the backup set in its raw <strong>for</strong>mat.Encryption or physical protection of the media are the only methods to ensure thatthe data is protected.If you restore backupset data from the server, individual files, directories or entirebackupset data can be restored in a single operation from the GUI or the comm<strong>and</strong>line. When you restore backupset data locally, the GUI can only display <strong>and</strong> restorean entire backupset. The comm<strong>and</strong> line can be used to restore individual files ordirectories stored in a backupset locally. Refer to the backupsetname option on therestore <strong>and</strong> query comm<strong>and</strong>s <strong>for</strong> more in<strong>for</strong>mation.Restoring backupsets using the GUIAttention: Be<strong>for</strong>e you begin a restore, be aware that backupsets can contain data<strong>for</strong> multiple file spaces. If you specify a destination other than the original location,data from all file spaces are restored to the location you specify.To restore a backupset, per<strong>for</strong>m the following steps:v Click Restore from the GUI main window. The Restore window appears.v Locate the <strong>Backup</strong> Sets directory tree object <strong>and</strong> exp<strong>and</strong> it by clicking the plussign (+) beside it.– To restore the backupset from a local device, exp<strong>and</strong> the Local object <strong>and</strong> theSpecify backupset location dialog is displayed. On the dialog, select Filename: or Tape name: from the dropdown list <strong>and</strong> then enter the tape or filename location. You can also click the Browse button to open a file selectionwindow <strong>and</strong> select a backupset.– To restore data from backupset from the server, first exp<strong>and</strong> the Server object<strong>and</strong> then either Filelevel or Image, depending on the type of restorerequested.v Click the selection box next to the backupset or directory or file within thebackupset that you want to restore.It is now possible to select files from within a backupset if that backupset islocated at the server <strong>and</strong> was generated with a table of contents.v Click Restore. The Restore Destination window appears. Enter the appropriatein<strong>for</strong>mation.v Click on Restore. The Task List window displays the restore processing status.Notes:1.
