Exclude optionsAuthorized UserThe exclude options exclude objects from backup, image, or archive services. Forexample, you might want to exclude all temporary files, any local caches ofnetwork files, all files that contain compiled object code that you can easilyreproduce using other methods, or your operating system files.You can exclude specific files from encryption processing during a backup.Notes:SupportedOptionsSyntax1. With the exception of exclude.fs, when you exclude a file that was previouslyincluded, existing backup versions become inactive during the next incrementalbackup.2. The server can define exclude options with the inclexcl option.Exclude any system files or images that could corrupt the operating system whenrecovered. You should also exclude the directory containing the Tivoli StorageManager client files.Use wildcard characters to exclude a broad range of files. See “Including andexcluding groups of files” on page 62 for a list of wildcard characters that you canuse. Then, if necessary, use the include option to make exceptions.To exclude an entire directory called /any/test, enter the following:exclude.dir /any/testTo exclude subdirectories that begin with test under the /any directory, enter thefollowing:exclude.dir /any/test*ClientsThis option is valid for all UNIX and Linux clients.FilePlace these options in the dsm.sys file.
