You can specify the diskcachelocation option in yourdsm.sys file within a server stanza or with the include.fs option. See “Includeoptions” on page 269 for more information. If the diskcachelocation optionappears in the option file, its value will be used for all file systems not representedby an include.fs option containing the diskcachelocation option. The disk cache is a temporary file which is deleted after the incremental commandis run. Use this option to select one of the following:1. A location that has more free disk space if, when you are usingmemoryefficientbackup=diskcachemethod, you get the message that the diskcache file cannot be created because you do not have enough disk space.2. A location on a different physical volume to reduce contention for the diskaccess mechanism, and therefore improve performance.Attention: For performance reasons, do not use a remote drive fordiskcachelocation. The disk cache file created by subsequent disk cache incremental backups shouldrequire considerably less disk space. The actual amount of disk space required forthe disk cache file created by subsequent disk cache incremental backups dependson the number of files and directories included in the backup and on the length ofthe longest file or directory name which is backed up. The disk cache file createdby the initial disk cache incremental backup can require up to 2 gigabytes of diskspace for each million files or directories being backed up.ClientsThis option is valid for all clients. The server can also define this option.FilePlace this option in the dsm.sys file within a server stanza.►► DISKCACHELocation path ►◄path Specifies the location where the disk cache database will be created ifmemoryefficientbackup is set to diskcachemethod.
