Creating <strong>and</strong> modifying the client system options file (required rootuser or authorized user task)During installation, the sample, dsm.sys.smp, is placed in the installation directory.|||For systems other than Solaris, if you are a root user or authorized user, copy thedsm.sys.smp file to dsm.sys. You must use the name dsm.sys <strong>for</strong> this file. It isassumed that the dsm.sys file is controlled by the system administrator.Attention: If you are reinstalling <strong>and</strong> you want to keep your existing dsm.sys fileintact, do not copy the dsm.sys.smp file to dsm.sys.Use the dsm.sys file to specify one or more servers to contact <strong>for</strong> services, <strong>and</strong>communications options <strong>for</strong> each server. This file can also include authorizationoptions, backup <strong>and</strong> archive processing options, <strong>and</strong> scheduling options.Edit dsm.sys to include the server or servers to which you want to connect. Thefollowing is an example of a client system options file stanza which contains therequired options <strong>for</strong> a server you want users to contact. You can specify options <strong>for</strong>more than one server:Servernameserver_aCOMMMethodTCPipTCPPort 1500TCPServeraddressnode.domain.company.comNote: If you want to use the Web client, you must also specify thepasswordaccess=generate option. See “Passwordaccess” on page 305 <strong>for</strong> morein<strong>for</strong>mation.As the default, your client node contacts the first server identified in the dsm.sysfile. You can specify a different server to contact by entering the servername optionin your own client user options file (dsm.opt), or by entering that option with acomm<strong>and</strong>.You can also specify a default server <strong>and</strong> a migration server (if you have the HSMclient installed on your workstation) in your dsm.sys file.
