Thecylinder should not be exposed toadditional compressive forces asthis significantly reduces the externalmass that can be braked.We recommend system solutionsas shown at the top of page 46(Fastening in position) or similar, inwhich the cylinder does not act as amotor during braking. Heat is generatedif the brake is used frequently,and this must be taken into accountto ensure that the maximum temperatureis not exceeded.Piston rod lockingTo order a cylinder with piston rod locking, position 5 shouldcontain L (P1D Standard with lock unit), D (P1D Clean cylinderwith lock unit) or 4 (P1D with factory fitted valve and lockunit). Note that the P1D with piston rod locking requires achrome plated piston rod or chrome plated stainless steelpiston rod because of the high surface pressure.
