Achievable lathe turning and milling tolerancesDepending on the production complexity, there aredifferences between normal, accurate and precisemanufacturing. The diagrams in figure 5, shows theachievable tolerances by turning and milling. Theachievable tolerances of the normal manufacturingare generally enough for mechanical engineeringtechnical parts. The accurate manufacturingincreases the machining costs of ca. 200 %. Theprecise manufacturing tolerances are to be appliedonly in exceptional cases, because they increase theprocessing costs of 800 % and they are, generally,not necessary.
